Last Wednesday, I was invited at the press launch of Digital Summer Camp by Power Mac Center and Galileo Enrichment Learning Program, Inc. at Greenbelt 3. I got interested to join because I am in hunt for the summer activity for my two boys (11 and 12 years old). My eldest loves to do videos and interested with programming. And it would be better to have a proper training and to understand the basic. I’ve done with my class in the morning and I was free in the afternoon, so I decided to join to understand what is this Digital Summer Camp.
We were gathered in a room and served with JCo Doughnuts and Starbucks drink. My hot drink saved my day because of the low temperature of the room. You know I’m not a fond of cold places. Haha!
In the event, I appreciated the collaboration of two organizations with one purpose of helping children to boost creativity using technology.
About the organization:
POWER MAC CENTER was established in August 1994, it is a recognized Apple Premium Reseller, Authorized Education Reseller, Authorized Training Provider and Authorized Service Provider in the Philippines. With years of experience in the Apple business, Power Mac Center has become a reliable retailer and service provider of Apple products to the Filipino consumer.
They are the first in the Philippines to offer certification programs and exams for creative and IT professionals; and non-certification courses to groups and individuals who wish to learn or expand their knowledge on MAC OS basic and pro applications. So if you are an Apple user like me, I recommend you to avail the courses they are offering because it’s too important to learn about the products and applications to utilize it properly.
Every year, Power Mac Center Apple Authorized Training Provider holds “Summer Workshop”: an exciting way for kids to have the coolest tech learning experience!
For 10 years of shaping FUTURE READY KIDS, Apple Certified Trainers brings an exciting mix of digital and non-digital courses(with digital twist).
Courses are for ages 9-13 available at Power Mac Center Greenbelt 3, Power Mac Center Trinoma and Apple Authorized Training Provider at Arnaiz Avenue, Makati City.

Since Power Mac Center has limited venues for their courses, they partnered with Galileo Enrichment Learning Program, Inc.(GELPI). Power Mac Center intends to expand the reach of their goal to provide training courses. And GELPI has this ability to reach out from Luzon to Mindanao. Which gave Power Mac Center the chance to broaden their reach. They have been doing this for almost 3 years now, sharing the same commitment of crafting programs that will allow kids all over the country to explore and experience the wonders of digital learning.
GELPI CEO-Rowie Matti
Galileo Enrichment Learning Program introduces the new way of learning here in the Philippines. It is a meaningful, exciting and fun MATH and English enrichment program for children, ages 3 to 12. The organization is the first in Singapore Math enrichment program. In the heart of the program is the advocacy to improve the quality of education in the country and come out with globally-competitive learners. It uses Telescopic approach which focuses on each child’s learning needs. Galileo has 34 branches all over the Philippines, 9 of which are offering the Digital Summer Programs. So even if you’re in the province you can enjoy the unique digital summer activity. It is within your reach.
During the event, I experienced two of the five courses. Stop Motion Video Creation and Game Creation were introduced to me.
Stop Motion Video Creation is so tedious. But it will enhance the creativity of the kids. Since they are hooked on iPads, I guess we better introduce this apps to them. This is one way to discover their interests and can be successful on it.
Game Creation is exciting to me. I had fun doing the programming. I remember during my college years how we do the flow chart to create a program. Now, it’s easy you just have to tap the icons. But it requires critical thinking that is healthy to our children.
Some of the participants experienced the Robotics Programming with Sphero. They can control a gadgets using the Ipad.
It was such an exciting afternoon. The event lasted about 2 hours but we were able to do the basic of their courses offered. This summer vacation, this digital courses is best for your children. It’s new, unique and a productive activity. What thrilled me more are the freebies and raffle. I won one IDUO Stylus + Ball Pen Aluminum Barrel and I got two Digital Summer Camp Coupon. It’s perfect for my two sons but our schedule do not permit.
I’d love to share to you those freebies, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, express your interest, I will communicate with you and I will send it to your doorstep(Philippine address only). Be the first in our mail box.
